String is like taking live calls from your listeners. No complicated setup, no expensive software.

Start Your First Show

How it works

1

Start a conversation whenever you're recording

Open the String dashboard, create a topic, and hit send. No need to schedule in advance.

2

Followers get notified instantly

Your listeners get push notifications from the mobile app. They can hear the setup, join the queue and talk with you live.

3

Everything records automatically

Download individual caller tracks (WAV) or a mixed file (MP3). String records in the background - no "forgot to hit record."

Works with your existing setup. Recording with Riverside? Keep doing that. String captures your caller audio separately. Combine the tracks in post.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is String free?

String is free for listeners, always. For podcasters, String is free to get started. We are considering paid plans for larger shows and advanced features in the future, but we're committed to keeping a generous free tier for independent podcasters.

Does it work with Riverside / SquadCast / Zencastr?

Yes. String is additive to your current workflow, not a replacement. Keep recording your hosts in Riverside - String captures your caller audio on separate tracks. Sync them in post using the timestamps in our metadata file, or just match the waveforms.

What do my listeners need to do?

Download the String app (iOS, Android coming soon), search for your show, and follow it. That's it. When you go live, they get a notification.

Do callers need an account?

Yes, a free account (Apple, Google, or email sign-in). This lets us send notifications and gives you display names for your callers.

Can I have multiple hosts?

Yes. Invite team members as hosts or producers from your dashboard. Everyone can see the queue and screen callers. Only hosts can send notifications and go live.

What audio quality do you record?

44.1kHz WAV files for individual tracks (same as Riverside), 256kbps MP3 for the mixed version. Broadcast quality.

What countries is String available in?

Anywhere. The app works globally. We're based in Australia.

What if a caller is problematic?

You screen every caller privately before they go on air. If someone's not right for your show, just dismiss them from the queue. They never make it to the recording.

How do listeners know when I'm live?

Push notifications. When you send a topic live, everyone following your show gets notified immediately. That's the core of how String works - listeners need notifications enabled.
